Description	Redesigning an iconic object—one deeply embedded in people’s memories—is one of the most challenging tasks in design. This is especially true when the original object is essentially perfect and minimalist. Such is the case with the PRIM "Televize" (Television) watch, which dates back to the turn of the 1970s and 80s. Everyone knows them; everyone remembers their look—surpassing that original design is no easy feat. In this instance, I am confident that the new design has exceeded all expectations. Working alongside Lukáš Tláskal, our design team focused on identifying the most iconic elements of the original watch and exploring how to evolve them. The case shape is particularly iconic; we sought to lighten and refine it, incorporating minimalist details such as the specific angling of the case edges and the lugs. We also shifted the proportions from a horizontal to a vertical orientation, giving the watch a slimmer profile. Furthermore, we refined the dial graphics rather than simply transposing them from the original model. The result is a "Televize" watch that features a contemporary design while honoring a significant legacy.
