Czech Republic / Company ID 04322371 QR +

Based in Prague, Jiri Krejcirik is an award-winning Czech designer whose practice operates at the intersection of design and art. His work focuses primarily on furniture, lighting, and objects, which he develops and presents under his eponymous brand, JIRI KREJCIRIK, while also engaging in bespoke commissions for private clients and collaborations with international companies. His professional practice extends from object and product design to spatial installations and exhibition scenography. Jiri Krejcirik’s work is characterised by a sensitive dialogue between contemporary form and historical reference. Drawing on local craftsmanship and traditional manufacturing techniques, his objects reinterpret elements of European cultural heritage through a distinctly contemporary lens. His approach consistently foregrounds context, material intelligence, and refined detail, allowing each project—whether functional, spatial, or conceptual—to emerge as a carefully considered response to its environment. Embracing the Czech tradition of craftsmanship, each one of Jiri Krejcirik’s products is hand-crafted locally in the Czech Republic, produced in a limited series and displayed only in meticulously chosen galleries and design showrooms in Europe, US and Australia.

Project Roots Altar cabinet and Arnaud bench
Client Futuro studio
Year 2023
Description Jiri Krejcirik introduces a cabinet for the Futuro Studio brand, which is accompanied by the Arnaud bench. The structured cabinet crowns the Roots collection, which Jiří Krejčiřík and the Ostravabased brand presented for the first time in the Czech context at Designblok 2022. This April, it debuted abroad at the prestigious Alcova location during Milan Design Week. Roots comprises a spectrum of six core storage objects - shelves, cabinets and chests of drawers - that are connected by the inspiration of the forest and its organic shapes. Essential to the collection is the symbiosis of modern technology and traditional craftsmanship, which in turn allows working with fine details, colour, precious woods and also wood veneer, giving the entire Roots collection an unmistakable texture and sophisticated depth of colour. The cabinet is the seventh object with which Krejčiřík and Futuro Studio round off their joint journey with the Roots collection. It is a limited edition piece that has the most prominent imprint of Krejčiřík's signature aesthetic of the entire collection. The second solitaire exhibited within the installation is the designer's authorial piece; the Arnaud bench. Its folklore-red colour and distinctive form freely resonate with the neighbouring cabinet, creating an unexpected bond thanks to Krejčiřík's distinctive style. The bench is named after Arnaud Grilh, a French intern who helped manufacture the first example.
